Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) is set to unveil the all-new Honda Prelude soon—we’ve known this for quite some time now. But apart from the fact that it’s on its way, we know nothing about the upcoming hybrid coupe, and we’ve just been patiently sitting on our hands in the meantime. Well, until now, that is.
The Department of Energy just released its updated list of recognized electric vehicles, and in that said list it included a certain Honda Prelude. It said “No Specific Variant” on the website, but it also linked out to a detailed spec-sheet.

As expected, local Prelude units will come with a 2.0-liter gasoline hybrid system similar to what other markets get. Output for the internal combustion engine is rated at 139hp at 6,000rpm and 182Nm at 4,500rpm. The electric motor, meanwhile, peaks at 181hp at 5,000-6,000rpm and 315Nm from 0 to 2,000rpm.

The DOE’s document also indicates the Prelude will get an ECVT as well as S+ Shift, and differend drive modes will also be available. Our executive editor Sheng Banzon was actually able to try all these out through a quick drive with the Prelude in Japan last year—you can read more about her experience here.

The Prelude will sit on 19-inch Berlina Black aluminum wheels shod in 235/40 R19 series tires and will get blue ‘Brembo x Prelude’ brake calipers. Inside, the cabin will be adorned with blue and white front seats stitched in perforated smooth leather with a Houndstooth pattern. Black fabric seats will be in the back, with a 60/40 split-folding function. The coupe will also be fitted with a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster paired with a nine-inch infotainment system and an eight-speaker Bose sound setup.
The Prelude will also come equipped with the full Honda Sensing suite that includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, forward-collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure warning, road-departure mitigation, and lane-keep assist. The spec-sheet also indicates the availability of an adaptive damper system, shift-by-wire, and active cornering lights. Anyway, if you want to read more, you can just check out the full document here.
Takte note, however, that the DOE document indicates that HCPI “reserves the right to change or modify equipment or specifications at any time without prior notice,” so these specs aren’t final. At the very least, all this info gives us an idea of what kind of Prelude we’ll be getting in our market.
So...back to sitting on our hands while we wait for the official launch, then.
