After debuting at Auto China 2026 earlier this year, the Hyundai Ioniq V has officially launched in China. The fastback sedan’s production version retains the Venus concept’s futuristic wedge silhouette and seam-inlaid lighting elements. Eight color options are available: Cyber Gold, Dimensional Purple, Gamma Green, Magnetic Grey, gloss and matte Photon White, Streamer Silver, and Night Blade Black.

As its Ioniq naming suggests, the V is fully electric and comes with either 540km or 650km of range (based on China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle or CLTC). The 540 models carry a 53.5kWh LFP battery paired with a 188hp electric motor; the 650 models are equipped with a 66.8kWh LFP battery and a 225hp electric motor. Power is sent to the front wheels across the whole range.

The Hyundai Ioniq V measures 4,900mm long, 1,890mm wide, and 1,470mm tall, with a 2,900mm wheelbase. This firmly places the car among other large electric sedans like the Nissan Primera and Mazda 6e. Other close size comparisons include the Hyundai Sonata and the Toyota Camry.

Inside, the dashboard is dominated by a 27-inch dual-screen infotainment setup, complemented by a HUD above the oval-shaped steering wheel. Contrasting leather upholstery and ambient lighting provide additional visual interest in the cabin, while a panoramic sunroof spans much of the ceiling.

Prices start at 109,900 Chinese yuan (around P1.03 million) and top out at 139,900 Chinese yuan (around P1.309 million). Hyundai has previously described the Ioniq V as an important model part in its ‘In China, For China, To Global’ strategy, which could see products developed for the Chinese market brought overseas to other regions.

Could Hyundai use this strategy to reinforce its Philippine lineup with a new and affordable BEV? Let us know what you think of the Ioniq V in the comments.
