Want an original Ford Bronco that retains the workhorse’s simple, honest approach with a modern powertrain? Kindred Motorworks might just have the answer with its all-new, all-electric iteration. Traditionalists, look away now.
Out goes the all-American 5.0-liter V8 and in steps an all-wheel-drive dual-motor setup, now aided by an 80kWh battery. Numbers, you say? Those’ll be 408hp and 666Nm. The Kindred Bronco also supports DC fast charging, though we don’t know how much range it’ll provide yet.

But remember: This is a Bronco. That means it’s got to do all the gritty stuff just as well, and Kindred hasn’t forgotten that. As such, it’s got a reinforced frame, plus independent front/multilink rear suspension. The brakes will now also claw back some electricity, while a set of limited-slip differentials at both axles will provide a bit more balance.

The cabin has seen plenty of change, too, with a good mix between retro and modern. For instance, the leather upholstered bucket seats may look as old as the Egyptian Pyramids themselves, but they’re heated. Then there’s the LCD gauge cluster, the touchscreen infotainment unit (that’s smartphone-compatible), and an all-new sound system. ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ by John Denver should sound sweet.

Design-wise, there’s been no real change. Kindred has said you can choose from up to 11 color options, with the Bronco’s cabin customized to match your exterior finish choice, while also providing the option of a hard-top and locking lift gate. Handy, that.
Orders can now be placed, with pricing set to be confirmed shortly.
