The newly debuted Lexus LFA Concept has already attracted some criticism, particularly due to its fully electric power system. With no V10 on deck, social media users were quick to express their angry sentiments, but we implore the disgruntled to hold onto their pitchforks and torches, as there seems to be a bigger picture in sight.
You may recall that with Century as Toyota’s top brand, Lexus has been prompted to go more experimental. With Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda’s decree of no more boring cars still echoing to this day, Lexus is expected to produce groundbreaking new products and developments—all while still honoring generations of Toyota heritage.

In the case of the LFA Concept, when fully realized, it is expected to “completely redefine the sound of an electric sports car,” as relayed by Toyota’s chief branding officer, Simon Humphries. He later explained that this directive came from Toyoda himself.

The presentation continued with a symphony of combustion-engine sounds, with the V8-powered Toyota Gazoo Racing GT and GT3 rolling up beside the LFA Concept. According to Toyota, those three vehicles were developed side-by-side, sharing design cues and other aspects of engineering.
While Toyota did not say what the next-generation LFA would specifically sound like, we can expect a nostalgic sound package with cutting-edge technology behind it. Perhaps it will be built around the original V10? Or could it draw inspiration from the new Toyota Gazoo Racing lineup? Who knows, but exciting times are surely ahead.
