A common theme over the last couple of years is the ever-increasing presence of hybrid electric vehicles at international car shows. Even pickups, which traditionally sip on diesel or gasoline, haven’t been immune.
Chinese brand Great Wall Motor is getting in on the action with the Poer Sahar HEV.
Revealed at the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show, this model is being pitched as a premium pickup offering with a clean powertrain, the Poer Sahar HEV runs on a 2.0-liter hybrid gasoline engine and electric motor setup. The former churns out 244hp and 380Nm of torque, while the latter does 106hp and 268Nm.
It’s a beast in terms of size, too. The vehicle measures in at 5,445mm in length, 1,991mm in width, 1,924mm in height, and rides on a 3,350mm wheelbase. Its design also represents its dimensions well, thanks to broad shoulders, strong character lines, and a boxy overall shape that screams utility.
The cabin is a stark contrast from the exterior, as it flaunts a relatively premium vibe with a good choice of materials. Leather seats with a massage function and ventilation? Check. Faux wood and polished metal trim? Check. Advanced safety features? It has those, too. It also boasts a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster.
Great Wall Motor says the Poer Sahar HEV is already available for pre-order in the Thailand market. In the Philippines, the Chinese brand is already selling the Haval and Cannon Slux. Do you think there’s room in that local lineup for something like the Poer Sahar HEV?
