This is a heads-up for Toyota Hilux owners: If your unit is a GR-S variant, your pickup may be part of an ongoing special service campaign.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) says that a total of 3,244 Toyota Hilux GR-S units sold between July 27, 2023 and April 24, 2024 are covered by the service campaign.
The issue stems from the truck’s sports bar, which is attached to the body with brackets that could crack “under severe usage conditions.” Yikes.

“If this occurs, it could become hazardous to other vehicles and pose a safety risk to pedestrian traffic,” TMP’s service campaign announcement reads.
TMP will notify owners of Hilux GR-S units included in the service campaign and invite them to an authorized Toyota dealership to address the sports bar issue at no cost.
So, is your unit affected by this sports bar issue? If yes, you may want to refrain from going off-roading until it’s fixed.
