E-scooter sharing services are a familiar sight in other countries, especially around urban centers. Here in the Philippines, though? Not so much. Moovr PH, which claims to be the country’s first-ever scooter sharing platform, is looking to change this.
The company’s scooters are now deployed in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) and are accessible to users 24 hours a day. Alternatively, Moovr PH also has a single-gear bicycle option. Both, though, are perfect for traveling short distances in a quick and efficient manner.
How do you use it? It’s pretty simple. Just follow these five steps:
- Download the Moovr PH app and create an account. This can be done via e-mail, a Google Account, or a Facebook account.
- Once you have a profile, just head on over to a BGC Moovr Hub. Remember: You need a helmet to use the company’s personal mobility devices.
- Unlock your vehicle by scanning a QR code. The maximum rental time for each scooter or bicycle is 24 hours, and scooters must be returned once the battery level reaches 15%.
- The rental rate for bikes is P15 for every 15 minutes, while scooters cost P50 for every 20 minutes. If your journey is complete, park your vehicle and lock it in a nearby Moovr Hub.
Simple enough, right? We just wonder how the company plans on keeping its scooters and bicycles safe from thieves. Hopefully, Moovr PH has security measures in place to prevent its property from being stolen. BGC is a relatively safe place, but you’ll never know.
This is a pretty good move. Personal mobility devices are definitely the way to go if you only plan on moving short distances. BGC is a relatively safe place for cyclists and scooter riders, too. That and, well, parking can be a real pain in the a** here sometimes. Are you willing to try this out?
