There are a lot—we mean a lot—of things that we’ve been missing out on due to the ongoing pandemic. One of them is the Vios Cup, Toyota Motor Philippines’ (TMP) one-make race featuring the country’s best-selling subcompact sedan.
In 2020, TMP decided to hold the inaugural GR Supra GT Cup Asia Philippines in lieu of the Vios Racing Festival. While it was a fun experience, we’re sure a lot of fans are still longing to witness some real action on the track.
Luckily for said fans, TMP is now looking to bring back the Vios Cup this year.
The carmaker recently launched the Vios GR-S here in our market, and along with the big reveal came the announcement that TMP plans to stage the Vios Cup in July. But it’s still not a done deal at this point—TMP says it’ll happen “provided it is deemed safe by authorities to hold events of such nature.” You might want to keep your fingers crossed in the meantime.
TMP also confirmed that it will be hosting the second season of the GR Supra GT Cup, so the sim racers will still have a series to join this year.
Anyway, details are still scarce at this point, so we’ll just give you more updates as we have them. If you’re looking forward to the return of the festivities this year, then watch this space.
