Pretty much any model can be a passenger car. Frankly, all you really need is somewhere to put a person, a working engine, and a driver’s seat, right?

Coming up with something serviceable, though, is another matter. If you’re looking for ways to turn your commercial workhorse into a passenger transport during its off-duty hours, perhaps what Atoy Customs has done to the 2022 Toyota Lite Ace might serve as a good source of inspiration.

So, what exactly has been done here? Well, this unit used to be a much barer two-seater utility van. With a few slight changes, however, Atoy Customs has made the cargo hauler just as viable for moving people.

For starters, the plain white exterior paint job has been replaced with a slightly stealthier grey finish—a good start if you’re not looking to make people think you’re driving around installing internet lines or cable TV.

Slide the door open, and you’re greeted by pretty much the same overall interior experience. The standard front seats have been ditched in favor of new leather ones, though. This was done to match the optional second-row leather-wrapped bench that’s been installed in the back.

This isn’t just any ordinary bench seat, by the way. It folds down and tumbles forward in order to preserve the Lite Ace’s utilitarian interior layout.

“We developed this additional three-seater set para sa mag pamilya na after neogsyo gagamitin ng pamilya niyo,” Atoy says in his vlog.

Admittedly, the package is pretty bare for something out of Atoy Customs-but that’s not the point. Leave stresses that this build could not have been treated like the ones you see in higher-cost vans as the formula of the Toyota Lite Ace must remain a practical one.

Makes sense to us. Would you do something like this to your commercial workhorse if you had one?
