Given the choice, would you go for a track-capable sports car or an off-road-capable SUV? Are you sacrificing versatility in favor of impressing folks around corners or vice versa? Decisions, decisions.
Digital artist Rain Prisk’s answer? “Why not both?”
Prisk, the man responsible for reviving the likes of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and Honda CR-X, didn’t hold back from mixing the best of both worlds in this Toyota Supra render. Look:
Massive all-terrain tires? Check. Two hooks? You betcha. Prisk has even equipped this thing with a snorkel and a roof rack carrying a canoe, as well as subtle step boards. The over-the-top fenders are a nice rugged touch, too. Granted, it won’t eat up corners as a Supra should, but it’ll have all eyes on it at the track anyway.
No imaginary specs mentioned here, but we figure that the 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged engine local units come with (335hp and 500Nm) should be sufficiently torquey for most purposes.
So, an off-road Toyota Supra. Will it work? Not likely. But a good chunk of this piece’s appeal is in the idea’s absurdity. Remember: No truly great car was ever born from an uninspired idea.
