Car culture enthusiasts visiting Japan this June might be interested in Uber’s latest offering in the country: Uber Drift. This experience invites JDM fans to take the passenger seat of a Nissan 180SX or an S15 Nissan Silvia as a professional Formula Drift-licensed driver goes sideways at Mobara Twin Circuit.
Uber Drift is part of the transport company’s global ‘Go Anywhere’ initiative, offering unique experiences to travelers across the globe. Previous adventures in the series included safari tours in South Africa and hot-air balloon rides in Turkey.

The Uber Drift experience is a curated half-day itinerary for groups of up to four. It starts with a pickup from your accommodation in Tokyo in an Uber Black, the company’s premium service with top-rated drivers and luxury vehicles (in the trailer, it looks like they use a Toyota Alphard).

Participants are then driven out to Mobara Twin Circuit, which is 90 minutes by car from Tokyo. It’s known to be a highly technical course, with plenty of tight corners. All the better for a track day in a drift car.

The circuit will also be exclusive to your group for the Uber Drift experience for a private, hassle-free experience. The booking includes a certain number of laps around the track, which can be split among your group in any combination.
When everything is ready, the pro drivers with their passengers in tow will head out to the track and perform their tandem drift routine. It’s a sight to behold watching two coupes slide around bends in perfect sync, but the experience while riding shotgun is something else—you have to experience all the noise, speed, and adrenaline firsthand to truly appreciate the spectacle.

The ride back to your accommodation in Tokyo is also in a premium Uber Black. All in all, the booking for the Uber Drift experience is 30,000 Japanese yen, or around P11,600. For fans of motorsports and Japanese car culture, it could very well be worth the price of entry.
Bookings may be done on the Uber app, starting May 27. The Uber Drift experience will have dates available from June 3 to July 1, with each day accommodating up to four groups. In other words, there are limited slots for this exclusive track-day experience.

Uber hasn’t been around in the Philippines for quite some time now, given the acquisition of their Southeast Asian operations by Grab back in 2018. As a result, it’s unclear if bookings for Uber Drift can be made here. If nothing else, you can always kick back and boot up Forza Horizon 6 to enjoy some JDM goodness from the comfort of your couch.
