A massive warehouse fire, delays brought on by COVID-19, and a tragic crane accident—the past year has been a pretty rough one for the Skyway Stage 3 Project. Still, none of these setbacks kept the massive new piece of infrastructure from a partial opening toward the end of 2020.
Yes, you can now hop onto Skyway Stage 3. The elevated expressway has been partially open since December 29, 2020, and motorists can use it completely free of charge for one month.
Driving on the Skyway Stage 3
The entire stretch of expressway, which spans 18km and is made up of seven lanes and 36 new access points, is scheduled to fully open on January 14, 2021. Infrastructure buff dmitrivalencia, though, has already provided a glimpse of what to expect on his official YouTube channel. Watch:
Travel time on the Skyway Stage 3
The speed of dmitrivalencia’s footage isn’t enhanced, so it should provide viewers with an accurate depiction of what travel times via Skyway Stage 3 should be like with free-flowing traffic. While you probably can’t expect the same experience here once the number of motorists using the expressway begins ramping up, travel times should still be a noticeable improvement.
In case you missed it, here’s a list of all the entry and exit points of the partially opened Skyway Stage 3. No word yet, however, on how much toll rates will be once it’s fully opened.
So, have you tried driving on this fancy new stretch of expressway yet? If yes, we’d like to hear about your experience in the comments.
