Yes, we know. Yet another new Ford Ranger—two of them, in fact. These, though, are legitimate limited-edition models, with only a few being built and with a host of upgrades meant to build on the American pickup truck’s rugged underpinnings.
Say hello to the Ranger Stormtrak and Wolftrak. Both are scheduled to go on sale in Europe in limited quantities beginning October 2021, and both are hoping to draw in new customers through either aesthetic add-ons or extra capability.
First, the Stormtrak. This one is based on the 4WD European Ranger Wildtrak and its bi-turbo EcoBlue diesel engine (210hp and up to 500Nm of torque). Changes to this one come mainly in the form of visuals, with a new Rapid Red paint job, decals, 3D badging, a sports bar, and a new black rear bumper. It also comes equipped with underbody protection for added durability, as well as new seats. The interior is also covered in nice contrast stitching and new Tinted Graphite surfaces.
The Wolftrak, meanwhile, is based on the Ranger XLT and comes packing a 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel with 168hp and 420Nm. This one is a lot more subtle compared to the Stormtrak, with the main aesthetic upgrade being a sports bar, some badging, and 17-inch black alloy wheels. It does get an electronically locking rear differential, though, as well as all-terrain tires. Ford says this model is looking to appeal more to “customers in farming, forestry and outdoor pursuit industries.”
No pricing details just yet, but expect them to surface as these trucks move closer towards a launch.
Yeah, sure, there are already a ton of Ranger to choose from out there. Here in the Philippines, there are already 14 variants available, the latest being the FX4 Max. But hey, the more the merrier, right?
