Ferrari has been softening us up for years. First came LaFerrari, not hindered by electricity but energized by it, then the SF90 Stradale, the 296 GTB, and the SF90 XX. Batteries and motors are part of the Maranello arsenal now, but a pure electric Ferrari...that’s different.
We know it’s coming in 2025, and we know now that it won’t be the successor to the LaFerrari, because that's the new hybrid V6-engined F80.

No, it’ll be part of the main model range. Er, and there our facts end...until EV prototypes emerged earlier this year (complete with comical toilet-rolls-covered-in-foil exhaust pipes poking out the back) rolling around Maranello hiding under a butchered Maserati Levante body.

Our conclusion is this: Based on the success of the V12-powered Purosangue, the EV will also lean into the SUV form factor. Four doors, back seats, but a coupe-style roofline. A bit like Lamborghini’s first EV we saw in concept form recently—the Lanzador—essentially a four-door super GT on stilts.
Performance is anyone’s guess, but with EV hp so easy to come by, Ferrari could easily offer 1,000hp and 4WD. We think it’ll show more restraint, and plump for a little less to avoid stepping on the toes of its supercar lineup. Another practical Ferrari, then...so long as you can find somewhere to plug it in.
