Kincsem. Doesn’t ring a bell, does it? We didn’t think so. Not many startups do. Ian Callum, though? Now there’s a name that many of you are probably familiar with.
The former Jaguar and Aston Martin designer has been tapped by Kincsem to come up with the look of its upcoming hypercar, the aptly-named Kincsem Hyper-GT. Excited? Considering Callum’s been responsible for some of the best-looking automobiles of our generation—including the likes of the Vanquish and 1984 Ford RS2000—you probably should be.
“With Kincsem, we have that rare privilege to not only create a beautiful car, but also form a design language for an innovative luxury brand,” Callum said in a statement.
“Refreshingly, Kincsem has said there are no rules, enabling us to pose the question ‘If we could do whatever we wanted, what would we do?’ That's one of the most invigorating opportunities for any designer. The team at Callum is extremely excited to start work,” he added.
No rules? Do whatever you want? By the sound of it, we all may be in for one of Callum’s most stirring creations yet. Callum has quite a bit of history to turn to for inspiration here, too, as Kincsem is actually the name of a world-famous racehorse that went unbeaten its entire 54-race career.
Little else has been revealed about the project, though. Kincsem says the Hyper-GT will “introduce a new ‘Personal Engineering’ experience for each owner in a car combining driver responsiveness with zero-emissions capability,” and that deliveries will start in 2023.
And that’s about it. More will be made known when the vehicle is unveiled in late 2021. Excited?
