The all-electric Toyota Hilux inches closer to the Philippines as the Department of Energy has just added it to its list of recognized electric vehicles. The new pickup was confirmed for a local launch in January 2026, and since then, Toyota Motor Philippines has rolled out two other vehicles to boost its electrified offerings.

These are the fully electric Urban Cruiser and the sixth-generation RAV4, with the latter now coming standard with all-wheel drive and hybrid power. We can expect the electric Hilux to make its Philippine debut within the next few months—after which, two new Land Cruisers are expected to enter the market.

According to the DOE’s database, Toyota will be launching the electric Hilux with a 4x4 drivetrain and a beefy 59.2kWh battery. All in all, it should be good for around 193hp and 300km of driving. We can also expect local Toyota offices to confirm these specs in the near future.

Upon its global release in Thailand last November 2025, the new Hilux received mixed reactions due to its overhauled design. We recently got to see it for ourselves at the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show—and admittedly, it looks better in the metal.

While it’s certainly not the most handsome Hilux in its history, the initial photos and videos didn’t do it justice. We’re eager to see just how it looks and drives on Philippine roads, as it will be sold alongside the traditional diesel options. The fully electric pickup market is still in its infancy, and Toyota could push the needle ever so forward with an iconic nameplate like the Hilux.
