We’ve already reported 2025’s best-selling Toyota and Lexus models in the Philippine market, as well as the brands’ planned 2026 launches. Now, let’s take a look at the key milestones achieved by Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) in 2025—a record year for the brand in terms of both local sales and production.

Let’s start with sales. Last year, Toyota and Lexus recorded combined sales of 229,447 units in the Philippines to take a 46.7% market share. That total figure corresponds to a 5.2% year-on-year growth, and also helps us retain the distinction of being the 10th biggest market for Toyota globally. Based on the performance report published by Toyota in the past week, we are the fourth largest market for the brand in Asia—right behind Thailand with its 230,038 unit sales, in fact. China brought in the most sales in the region with 1,780,396 units, followed by Indonesia with 260,446 units.

Roughly 8.5% of the brand’s total sales in 2025 were from electrified vehicles (19,516 units), marking a 40% year-on-year increase in this category. Lexus alone sold 1,692 electrified cars, accounting for 91% of its total of 1,852. To date, TMP has sold 44,228 hybrids and battery EVs.

As we reported last week, the brand’s top sellers in 2025 were the Vios, the Avanza, and the Hilux. Special mention, however, goes to the Toyota Tamaraw, which moved 17,542 units in its first full year on sale. According to TMP, the truck’s various conversions for specific needs—ambulance, telco vans, and even the race vehicle making its series debut this year—helped push the model’s sales and production.

Speaking of production, TMP says its total CKD production of 63,803 units is the highest in history, and represents a 6% year-on-year growth. This is only the third time in the last 10 years that the brand’s local production breached 60,000 units, after 2017 (61,972) and 2024 (60,109). Of the 11 Asian countries with manufacturing activities for Toyota, we have the seventh highest output, after China (1,567,036), Thailand (564,924), India (403,618), Indonesia (263,453), Taiwan (122,478), and Malaysia (86,927).

Over 83,000 personnel contributed to these achievements last year—direct TMP employees and those under the brand’s dealerships, subsidiaries, and suppliers. Around P3.9 billion in wages and benefits were paid out last year.

TMP procured P17 billion worth of parts and materials from its local suppliers, while the carmaker’s export suppliers made $1 billion in export sales. Finally, the company paid P43 billion in taxes and duties to the Philippine government.

Do you think Toyota can continue to improve on these numbers in 2026? And how do you expect the brand’s recently launched and upcoming models to affect its list of top sellers in the coming months?
