Recently, Toyota unveiled the 2024 Land Cruiser Prado, aka the 250 Series. This new model boxier and more rugged than its predecessor. If you’ve seen our last Prado size comparo, you’ll see how much its grown. So, how much closer is the 250 Series to the big LC300 in terms of size? Let’s find out.

For this comparo, we’ll be pitting the all-new ‘Prado’ Prototype against the Land Cruiser 300 VX. Note that we’ll be using the LC300 VX dimensions without the roof rails and Pintle hook or hitch since the Prado Prototype is not equipped with these features.

The new 250 Series Prado is 4,925mm long, 1,980mm wide, and 1,870mm tall, making it 25mm shorter, just as wide, and 35mm lower than the LC300. Although the two Toyota SUVs have the same overall width on paper, the Prado has a narrower body with more prominent flared wheel arches with cladding versus the LC300, which has a wider body with flatter wheel arches. Both Land Cruisers share the same 2,850mm wheelbase. Not that surprising since both Land Cruisers now share the same TNGA-F platform (chassis) for SUVs.

Both Land Cruisers come with 18-inch alloy wheels, but the all-new Prado comes with 32.6-inch diameter 265/70 tires, while LC300 VX is equipped with slightly smaller 31.6-inch diameter 265/65 rubber. The 250 Series Prado has a 31-degree approach angle and a 22-degree departure angle—one degree less up front and three degrees better at the back than the LC300’s numbers. Interestingly, the new Prado’s 221mm ground clearance is lower than the LC300 VX’s listed ground clearance of 235mm.

For those curious, the LC300 VX’s exterior dimensions published by Toyota Motor Philippines is 5,115mm x 1,980mm x 1,945mm. As mentioned earlier, the local-spec model comes with roof rails and a Pintle hook that add to the vehicle’s overall height and overall length. Other measurements not listed by TMP are from similar overseas models.

As a refresher, both body-on-frame Land Cruisers use the same independent double-wishbone front suspension and a coil-sprung five-link setup at the rear. The 250 Series Prado is only available with four-cylinder engines, while the LC300 only comes with V6 powerplants.

What do you think of the new 250 Series Land Cruiser Prado? Do you think it’s a much better deal than the comfort-oriented Land Cruiser 300? Let us know what you think in the comments.
