This year is going to be a very interesting time for the local crossover market—the segment is absolutely loaded.

There’s the Forester, the CR-V, the CX-5, and now, the all-new Toyota RAV4. Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has just launched its latest offering, and it’s set to compete with all the nameplates mentioned above.

While the absence of any 4x4 units might raise an eyebrow or two (TMP has a pretty straightforward explanation for its decision to stick with 4x2s), the RAV4 still looks well-equipped to take on its competition.

The top-spec Toyota RAV4 LTD packs a 2.5-liter engine capable of 203hp and 243Nm of torque—not a slouch by any means. This comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The interior offer plenty of space and a good amount of features, and seven airbags are standard across the range.

Plus, it’s a Toyota. The brand’s value alone will help push sales along quite nicely, we think. With all this in mind, let’s take a look at how the top-spec RAV4 stacks up against another range-topping crossover. For this battle, let’s go with the CR-V.

The powertrains of the two vehicles are pretty different: The RAV4 LTD has a naturally aspirated gasoline mill, while the CR-V SX gets power from a 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine capable of 118hp and 300Nm of torque. Then, of course, one packs a FWD drivetrain while the other gets AWD.

Take a look at the rest of the specs below and let us know what you think via our poll.
