After the speculation, the public spotting, and the official launch, it’s finally here: the facelifted Toyota Hilux. We witnessed the pickup’s launch last Saturday, but a few days before the big reveal, we were able to get behind the wheel of the top-of-the-line Hilux Conquest variant.
Immediately, you’ll notice that this pickup comes with a new and sportier face and lots of black trims. Inside, there is new leather material on the armrest and center console. One of the biggest upgrades is the infotainment system, which now comes equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets a reversing camera with parking sensors—a nifty addition for trying to navigate tight mall parking lots.
The unit featured here is equipped with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine that puts out 201hp and 500Nm of torque, though the new Hilux retains both its 2.8- and 2.4-liter options. In the video, you’ll see us drive the Conquest-exclusive Emotional Red color. The lower G and E variants, meanwhile, get a different Crimson Spark Red Metallic option.
