Ah, the ’80s and the ’90s. For many, these decades were considered the golden age of car ownership—a simpler time before information overload took over the auto industry with pesky over-the-air updates, digital instrument clusters, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Admittedly, Bluetooth is a win, no matter how you look at it. But nostalgia is a hell of a drug, and we get the appeal.

Suzuki gets it, too. This is why the Japanese carmaker is releasing a limited-edition five-door Jimny that gives off serious ‘80s and ‘90s vibes. People, feast your eyes on the Suzuki Jimny XL Heritage.

“But, but...it’s just a couple of decals!” Yes, you’re mostly correct. And you know what? There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Frankly, we think the exclusive add-on does a great job contributing to the vehicle’s playful vibe.

Other exclusive “upgrades” include red mudflaps and a “heritage cargo tray.” No mention of any changes to the engine or transmission setup, and all units come with modern tech niceties like a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as advanced safety systems.

Interested? Here’s the kicker: the Suzuki Jimny XL Heritage is limited to just 500 units. In Australia.

Considering the three-door version of this release sold out in a measly two days, we’re guessing most people’s chances of owning one of these babies are slim to none.

Thankfully, this look can easily be achieved through aftermarket means—which is the route we reckon most fans of the ’80s and the ’90s will take. What other changes or upgrades would you pursue to make the current-generation Jimny look like a blast from the past? Let us know in the comments section.
