Toyota is starting to electrify more and more of its lineup. After the all-new, fully electric Hilux, the carmaker has just unveiled the Veloz HEV over in Indonesia.
The Veloz HEV debuts with a 1.5-liter gasoline hybrid mill that generates a total of 109hp and is mated to an E-CVT. It has a 700Wh battery. If that all sounds familiar, that’s because it’s the same hybrid setup found in the all-new Ativ. Or for the unaware, the hybrid Vios that was also launched in the Philippines earlier this month.

Other details—and unfortunately, also photos—are still a bit scarce, but we can be almost sure that the hybrid Veloz will be spec’d with the full Toyota Safety Sense suite. Since this isn’t a full model change, at the very least, we also know the exterior hasn’t been completely redone. We do see added black trim and underbody claddings on the outside that local Veloz units don’t get.
Other photos also indicate that his HEV will be the new V variant, so there’ll be a slight reshuffling of the roster when this model lands here. We’re guessing Toyota Motor Philippines won’t wait too long to launch the Veloz HEV, but seeing as it still has a lot on its plate for the rest of the year with the bZ4x and the GR Corolla, we reckon it won’t be happening until January at the earliest. Keep your eyes peeled.
