Heads up, Honda owners: Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) has just issued a voluntary recall of 10,136 vehicles due to faulty fuel pumps. These fuel pumps supposedly contain defective impellers that may cause the engine to have trouble firing up or even become entirely inoperative.
The affected units include 2018-2019 models of the Accord, BR-V, City, Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Jazz, and Mobilio. Owners of vehicles that fall under this recall will be notified via mail, but customers can also check their car’s status through HCPI’s recall information page— all you need is your car’s 17-digit chassis number or vehicle identification number handy for verification.
The fuel pump service kit replacement can be availed in any Honda dealerships across the country starting July 2020, and these parts plus the labor will be free of charge. HCPI has advised customers that the servicing may take up to a maximum of an hour and a half.
The company’s statement reads: “HCPI apologizes for any inconvenience caused to owners of these vehicles and assures that this voluntary safety recall is conducted to ensure their safety. HCPI would also like to urge affected Honda customers to have their vehicles checked right away.”
As Honda said, affected owners should bring their vehicles in for servicing as soon as possible. Just remember that the carmaker is implementing stringent safety measures at its dealerships located in general community quarantine areas.
